100 Different Ducatis

Coming up for auction in Monaco is a private collection that consists of 100 Ducatis, and not just any Ducatis either. Carlo Saltarelli was a factory rider for Ducati and began his motorcycling career when he started working in a Ducati dealership at the age of 16, in 1965. Over three decades of collecting sees some of the most delectable Ducatis included in this stunning collection.

One of the highlights of the collection must be the 1970 Ex-Works Ducati 450 Desmo Corsa, the same bike featured in the Ducati Museum book and on display at the Ducati museum.

The Saltarelli Collection also features a beautiful 1990 Ex-Works Ducati 888 SBK, ridden in period by Giancarlo Falappa. Other significant lots include a brace of 750SS race bikes from the 1970s including an ex-factory 1973/4 Ducati 750SS (with the number 1 plate still on) ridden in 1975 works rider Franco Uncini, and a 1974 Ducati 750SS which also boasts an illustrious racing history, having scored a number of victories and podium finishes during the 1974 - 1975 seasons, several in the hands of Carlo Saltarelli.

Other significant lots include:

-A 1956 Ducati 125 Moto Giro F3, an original factory-built privateer racing machine

-1979 Ducati 860 Mike Hailwood Replica Series

-2000 Ducati MH900E, a delivery mileage ex Motorshow machine

-1970 Ducati 450 Desmo Scrambler,  an original, un-restored example finished in yellow

-1997 Ex Team Gio.Ca.Moto Ducati 748R, a stunning ex-Team Gio.Ca.Moto racing 748 in yellow livery

An iconic 1970 Ducati 250 Desmo “Silver Shotgun”

..and 90-odd more, from early small capacity singles ranging up to 996 models. If you want to extend your wish-list, or just stare open-mouthed at the bikes on offer, head to www.rmauctions.com.  If that wasn’t bad (or good) enough, Ducati Corse will be there with some factory race bikes for sale, including a Desmosedici. It is very much a ‘blue chip’ auction, included amongst some fabulously expensive cars. If you think your credit card can compete at the auction in Monaco, go hard.

Go online and weep.
