- Royal Enfield Himalayan Raid could debut next year
- To be more off-road capable and based on the 450
- Likely to get feature updates
Royal Enfield is working on a more off-road capable Himalayan 450 that is to be called the Himalayan Raid. Latest reports suggests that the motorcycle is expected to debut as early as 2026 with the project now being preponed.
The Himalayan Raid will be based off the standard model and share most of its cycle parts with the latter, although with few revisons. For instance, the suspension is said to be new and fully adjustable for rebound and compression on both ends. Even the fork tubes will be much larger in diameter for improved performance.
Adding to that, the Royal Enfield Himalayan Raid will get rally parts as standard. The current model is offered with accessories like a rally tail section, handguards and a rally seat. The Rally version would also get tubeless spoke wheels as standard. Underneath, the Himalayan Raid is expected to get the 452cc engine as the standard version but with changes to bump up its performance.
The motorcycle, called ‘Project K1X’ internally, is being co-developed by Royal Enfield’s R&D team in India and UK and its racing team in Europe. Once launched, the motorcycle will take on the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure and the CFMoto 450 MT.
