BMW F900R and F900XR updated for 2025

  • Get tweaked styling and electronics
  • No changes to the engine
  • Could be launched in NZ early 2025

To begin with the changes, the touring-focused XR gets revisions to its styling to make it more aerodynamic. BMW has also redesigned the windscreen to reduce windblast and the bike now comes with handguards as standard. The R gets a revised riding position with the pegs shifted ever-so-slightly backward and the bars pushed forward for an aggressive riding triangle.

That said, the chassis on the new BMWs have been updated to 43mm USD forks with adjustability for compression, rebound and pre-load. The new cast wheels have also aided in reducing 1.8kg of weight on both motorcycles. Then there is the new lithium battery that sheds a kilo and a refreshed and stubby taillight unit that integrates the indicators. Overall, the 2025 BMW F900R and F900XR are now 3kg lighter than the previous year models.

As for electronics, the XR and R’s Dynamic riding mode has been tweaked, the ABS Pro now gets cornering ABS as standard while the new drag torque control helps with traction under heavy downshifts. Now, the motorcycles haven’t been altered mechanically and continue with the 895cc parallel-twin motor with 105bhp to offer.

BMW Motorrad is offering three colours for the F900R: Metallic Blue for the standard version, White and Blue for the Sport version, and Triple black. On the other hand, the XR gets a Red, Triple Black, and Sport version that includes a white and blue combination.
