The manufacturer has opened its order books for its newest electric motorcycles that will go on sale in global markets by end of 2024.

  • Can-Am Pulse and Origin electric bikes revealed
  • Pre-orders begun in select European countries
  • Offer a maximum of 160km range

Can-Am has revealed its newest electric bikes- the Pulse and Origin for global markets and has also begun taking pre-orders for both bikes.

The Pulse and Origin differ in styling, rider geometry and suspension with the former being a road-focused naked and the latter, an adventure motorcycle complete with knobby tyres and spoke wheels. However, they share the same chassis, battery pack and motor. Speaking of which, the two Can-Am bikes have their motor fitted into the front of the single-sided swingarm which allows the chain to run through an oil bath making it mostly maintenance free and reducing transmission noise.

Can-Am Pulse and Origin Features

Now, the Can-Am Pulse comes with features Normal, Sport, ECO and Rain modes and rodes on KYB suspension with 140mm of travel. On the other hand, the Origin offers more ground clearance and a KYB-sourced suspension with 255 of travel for the front and adjustability for the rear. Other than the modes offered on the Pulse, it also gets Off-Road and Off-Road+ ride modes. Both electric bikes get ABS, reverse function and re-generative braking as standard equipment.

Can-Am Pulse and Origin Range

As for their powertrain, both use an 8.9kWh battery pack and 11kW motor (both liquid-cooled) which offers a claimed range of 160km on the Pulse. The Origin gets 144km thanks to its larger wheels and taller suspension. The motor is made by Bombardier subsidiary Rotax, can propel the Pulse from 0-60 in a claimed 3.8 seconds and has 72Nm on tap. Not too bad, eh?

Will the Can-Am electric bikes come to New Zealand?

Furthermore, the brand is offering a five-year/50,000km warranty on the battery which should be a relief for those wanting to jump into the electric motorcycle market. While Can-Am has commenced pre-orders in Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, the UK, Sweden, Finland and Austria along with the United States and Canada, bookings in Australia and New Zealand are yet to begin. Although, the two electric bikes are expected to be here sometime in 2025.
