Dream Debut Gets Better

The dream debut season has continued for FMR rider Cameron Leslie

How do you top grabbing four wins, including your first ever motorcycle race, in the opening round of Auckland Motorcycle Club’s 2020 championships?

For 19-year-old rookie Cameron Leslie, the answer was to be an emphatic display of dominance in the Pro Lite 250 class and the Carl Cox Motorsport Cup Hyosung class in round two.

On a summery Sunday at Hampton Downs, Leslie took pole in both qualifying sessions and never looked back. Recording eight wins in eight races, Leslie made it look easy. But in his podium speech at prize-giving, he admitted to ‘bricking it’ that rivals Ben Cook and Tarbon Walker would pass him at any moment.

In the end, however, it was Cameron Leslie’s consistent pace that won the day.

Indeed Cook, Walker and fellow series stalwart Loren May all displayed blistering speed, providing some ding-dong battles in pursuit of Leslie. In the end, however, it was Cameron Leslie’s consistent pace that won the day. The wins put the young Auckland rider at the top of both championship leaderboards.

Leslie will contest the next round of the Carl Cox Motorsport Cup and what will be the final round of AMCC’s summer series for Pro Lite 250s at Hampton Downs on the 29th November.
