Four(teen) Seasons In One Day – AMCC Rnd 2

It was a case of four(teen) seasons in one day for Round two of the Suzuki – Auckland Motorcycle Club Series at Hampton Downs on Sunday 13 October.

Track conditions changed regularly over the course of the day, and competitors were left playing musical wheel-change to keep up. Eventually the wet weather did set in towards the end of the day, seeing only four Senior competitors turn out for their final race. They were followed by a reasonable Junior contingent, but their race was called after three laps when it became apparent that it was not prudent to continue.

In Senior, Rogan Chandler (BMW S1000RR) continues to lead Formula Akld. However, William Crosby (GSX-R1000) was one of the four to contest the wet final Senior race, and he stormed home for the win to pull pack 25 valuable points and keep himself in the hunt.

Abbin Abraham (BMW S1000RR) heads Formula Akld B, with Andrew Boldero, also on a BMW, claiming a win in Race Two. Paul O’Doherty (Kawasaki) heads Clubman Senior, while Tahana Parker (ZX-6R) likewise continues to lead Supersport 600, where Dillon Telford garnered two wins on his MV Agusta 675.

Auckland Motorcycle Club
William Hunt won convincingly in the wet.

In Intermediate, Tyler King (GVR645) is seven-from-seven in SuperLite, with Nick Kampenhout (Vitpilen) chasing him. Whilst Brendon Vesty (Aprilia RS660) heads Super-Twin.

ProTwin 650 continues a resurgence in numbers, with Chris Defiori (MT-07) maintaining his points lead over Vaughan Maine (SV650). Billee Fuller took her first win on the R7 in Race Two, and this will be just one class to watch at the final round in November.

Elijah Daken and Jacob Rutherford – both on Hyosung GTR250s – continue to square off in ProLite 250 class, while Seb Mitchell represented SS150 on the R15 Yamaha. Elsewhere in Junior, Supersport 300 remains the class that delivers the most action, and Haydn Fordyce (Yamaha R3) maintains his lead here over the trio of Double-6 Motorsport KTM 390s.

Cameron Leslie had a challenging day with a crash in practice leading to a start from pit lane in Race One, then another fall in Race Two, before storming to a superb win in the wet Race Three. With the extra round on the Club Circuit coming up for the Junior classes, there is still a lot more to come from this group.

Sidecars remains the domain of Chris Lawrance / Richie Lawrance and Phillip Law / Angus Ravernwood. There is not much between these two rigs, and it will go to the final race of the season.

In the Carl Cox Motorsport Cup, Elijah Daiken and Scott Findlay are head-to-head in the Hyosung class where there is just 29 points between them. Meanwhile, in the Ninja class, Tyler King has a comfortable (for now) advantage over Oliver Pykett. Billee Fuller took a win in Race Two, but DNF’s are hurting her Cup chase at present. But with four Rounds left in the Cup competition, there is still a long way to go.

Round Three of the Suzuki – Auckland Motorcycle Club Series is coming up on Sunday 3 November and will be held on the Club Circuit for the Junior classes, and a selection of Intermediate classes. Buckets will also be on the programme.
