- CB1000 Hornet type approval documents filed
- Likely to be shown at 2024 EICMA
- Could be launched in NZ next year
Honda debuted the CB1000 Hornet at the 2023 EICMA, garnering mixed feelings about its design. Since then, the motorcycle never made it to any global market. But now, the Honda CB1000 Hornet has appeared in type-approval documents in Germany along with what seems like a premium SP version.
The CB1000 Hornet offers 150bhp and a little over 100Nm of torque. On the other hand, according to the documents, the CB1000SP has around 160bhp. This puts it in close contention with the Yamaha MT-10 and MT-10 SP. Now if Honda decides to keep the same tech it fitted the motorcycle with last year, the Hornet would ride on 41mm SFF-BP upside down forks and a rear shock sourced from Showa. We can also expect electronic semi-active suspension, retuned exhaust system and better brakes for the SP variant.
We won’t have to wait long for more details as the Honda CB1000 Hornet and CB1000 Hornet SP are expected to debut at the 2024 EICMA in November. It will not only compete against the Yamaha MT-10 but also the Suzuki Katana and Kawasaki Z900 in some global markets.
