  • Indian Motorcycles discontinue FTR 1200
  • Was offered in five trims
  • No word about the replacement model

Indian Motorcycles have released quite a number of new and updated models in the past months. However, the flat track-inspired FTR 1200 wasn’t one of them. Now, the parent company, Polaris Industries, has announced that it has discontinued the motorcycle.

While one would expect a final edition or a proper press release, Indian Motorcycles made the announcement in their Q4 2024 earnings presentation stating: “The Company realized certain costs associated with the wind down of the FTR product line beginning in the fourth quarter of 2024.” The Indian FTR 1200 was announced in 2019 and stood-out amongst other Made-in-the-USA cruisers and tourers with its street tracker styling and 1203cc, V-Twin engine. Over the years, thanks to the versatile nature of the platform branched out to have four other trims- the FTR Carbon, FTR Sport, FTR X RSD Super Hooligan and the FTR Rally; which was the most different of the lot.

With that said, Indian’s dominant reign at the American Flat Track racing with eight consecutive Grand National and Manufacturer championships has also come to an end as the FTR 750- the inspiration of the FTR 1200- is no longer eligible to compete.
