Indian Motorcycle unveiled its new Sport Chief RT to the world last week. And now, the American manufacturer has introduced the ‘First 6’ models- six custom motorcycles based on the RT.
The Indian First 6 range was showcased at the Moto Bike Expo in Verona, Italy and are also open for voting to choose the best custom build. Each motorcycle has been crafted by a different Indian Motorcycle dealership and add a unique appearance to the Sport Chief RT that comes with accessories that give it a custom look.
First up is the ‘Top Fuel’ made by the brand’s French dealer in Metz that comes with purple paint, yellow windshield and a subtle front fairing. This build also gets glow-in-the-dark highlights. Then there is the ‘American Graffiti’ that looks the most radical in its bright yellow colour mixed with red and blue highlights. The model is built by Indian’s Prague dealership. Other four builds include the ‘Bastard’ by MotoStrada Porto, The Qwetcher from Biker Syndicate, Switzerland and Hoka Key from Styrian Motor Cycle. There also is the rugged-looking No Comply Society from Britain.
Indian Motorcycle says these builds “ensure that the bikes we produce are as easy to work on as we can make them”. Well, underneath all the fancy custom bits is the Sport Chief RT that comes with an 1890cc Thuderstroke V-twin that produces 155Nm at just 3300rpm. It comes with a six-speed gearbox and transfers power to the rear wheel via a belt drive.
While the custom builds are unlikely to make their way into full-production models, we can expect Indian Motorcycle to launch the standard Sport Chief RT in New Zealand and Australia sometime this year.
