- KTM 990 Duke R technical details out
- Gets more power and premium components
- Launch at 2024 EICMA
KTM has already revealed its plans for the upcoming 2024 EICMA in Italy with one of the expected bikes to be the 990 Duke R. The motorcycle has been spotted while on test and now technical details have been leaked ahead of its unveiling.
The KTM 990 Duke R, like all other R models in the brand’s line-up will be a more powerful version of the standard model. It will also come fitted with premium components to match its character and the bump in price it will demand.
While the 990 Duke R will use the 947cc, parallel-twin LC8c engine from the 990 Duke, it is rated to be produce 128bhp at 10,500rpm and 103Nm of torque. In comparison, the standard 990 Duke offers 123bhp at 9,500rpm with the same torque. To further push its performance, the KTM 990 Duke R weighs 4kg lesser than the standard model’s 179kg kerb weight.
As for components, we can expect a fully adjustable WP suspension setup, lighter wheels, and Brembo Stylema brakes. The 990 Duke R will not stray far from the radical design of the standard version. However, a different paint scheme and exhaust could do the trick to set it apart.
We wouldn’t have to wait long as the KTM 990 Duke R is expected to be showcased at the 2024 EICMA next month. It will also likely make its way to markets like New Zealand and Australia early next year and compete with the Yamaha MT-09 SP and even the Suzuki GSX-8S.
