Introduction
In the last report, you were introduced to the LS2 Stream 2– a helmet that was affordable and practical enough for everyday use. The plan, then, was to use it during the riding season on our daily commutes and on weekend jaunts, and so I did. Over the past few months, the Stream 2 has been my daily, much to the dismay of my premium helmet glaring at me from the shelf. So now, it is time for me to tell you all that is there to like and dislike about it. And most importantly, if it is worth your money…
What we liked

One of the first things that got my attention was how light the Stream 2 felt on my noggin. It might not be the lightest option on the market, but it does feel comfortable. The reason is the use of KPA, which is essentially a blend of polycarbonate, thermoplastics and aramid nano fibers to reduce weight while not having to compromise on safety.
The cushioning is something to talk about, too. For a helmet in this price range, the quality of the liner is great. My cheeks feel like they are babied inside, and the neck cushion fits well too. As I spoke about in the first report, the LS2 Stream 2 continues to feel snug even after three months of use and break-in. It has moulded to the shape of my head and there is nowhere the finish is lacking, even with heavy use. What I also grew to appreciate is the sun visor. While I was averse at using it at first, with my prescription glasses, it has proved to be quite a boon in the harsh summer sun.
And finally, with the four vents it comes with, I loved how airy it feels. However, this turned out to be a bit of a downside at high speeds.
LS2 Stream 2: What could be better

In the city, at city speed limits, the Stream 2 seemed to fit in. But out on the highway, it turned out to be noisy and unpleasant after a few hours of riding. Even with all vents closed, the helmet also began to feel a tad unstable on the head. The other thing I wished would be better was the visor locking mechanism. Once locked, it was almost impossible to open with one hand and gloves on. I found myself stopping on the side of the road to have it unlocked, sometimes with both my hands. Quite a tough nut, this one!
BRM Verdict
So, the LS2 Stream 2 is comfortable and comes with likable and usable features too. Even the graphics that LS2 offers with this helmet are eye-catching. It also offers decent value for your money, but only if you are looking for your second helmet or something you could wear around the city. If not, you could have a look at the brand’s Storm 2 or Vector 2 range if you are willing to shell out a couple of hundred dollars more!
