It’s not often a charity gets their hands on a one of beauty like this 2017 Dyna Fat Bob, but thanks to the team at Auckland Harley-Davidson, that’s just the case for the Wood For the Trees Charitable Trust – a charity raising funds for mental health awareness.
Wood for the Trees was founded in July 2017 by a group of mates wanting to make a difference to the mental health of their fellow Kiwis. With a close friend committing suicide seemingly out of the blue, the Charitable Trust takes its name from from the old expression ‘you can’t see the Wood For the Trees’ – essentially that on the face of it everything could be looking good, but a person could be harbouring plenty of inner turmoil just below the surface.
“Wood For the Trees is about building awareness, even if it is just asking your mates if they’re ok, it makes a difference.”
This year marks the second year that Auckland Harley-Davidson has put forth a brand new motorcycle to be raffled off for the charity, with the 2017 Dyna Fat Bob – one of the last examples of the 103cu powered bike – getting a custom touch from renowned Kiwi street artist Mr G Hoete.
This year the charity has also teamed up with mental health campaigner Mike King and his I am Hope Charity, with proceeds from the auction being split evenly between the two charities.
The winner will be announced live on social media from Dr Rudi’s rooftop Bar in Auckland on May 31st.
