- KTM working on new 690cc single
- Could power Husqvarna model too
- Likely to be launched by end of 2025
KTM has had their share of financial challenges for the past few months but that isn’t stopping the Austrian brand from developing new tech and motorcycles. The latest report suggests that KTM is working on a new engine to take on the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono.
This new engine is likely to be an updated version of the 690 Duke’s 690cc single-cylinder LC4 engine. As per the reports, the updated LC4 engine was displayed at the Moto-Austria trade show in early February and is said to offer 79bhp; 1.5bhp more than the Hypermotard 698 Mono.

With this, KTM seemingly wants to snatch back the title of having the most powerful single-cylinder production engine. Moreover, this new engine could also make its way to a Husqvarna model too.
While the reports are fairly new and the engine seems to be in its nascent stage, we can still expect KTM to showcase the production-ready motorcycle by the end of 2025.
