- Royal Enfield Scram 440 breaks cover
- Based on the previous Scram 411
- Offered in two variants and five colours
With the success and praise the new Himalayan 450 received, we expected Royal Enfield to offer a scrambler version soon, just like it did with the previous model. However, the brand has unveiled the Scram 440 which is based on the Scram 411 but with a bigger capacity engine.
With the design the same as the 411, the Scram 440 could be a challenge to distinguish. However, it does come in five fancy colours to set it apart- Force Blue, Force Grey, Force Teal, Trail Green, Trail Blue. It is also offered in two versions- Force and Trail. While the latter comes with spoke wheels and tubed tyres, the Force variant uses alloy wheels and tubeless tyres.
Now, underneath is where things have changed. Royal Enfield has plonked in a 443cc, single-cylinder engine with 25.4bhp and 34Nm. While the increase in power is marginal, the engine now benefits from a sixth-gear that will make the Scram feel better to ride at high revs and during long distance riding.
Other subtle changes include LED lighting for the headlamp, switchable ABS and a revised chassis that offers an additional 5kg payload for a top box. Royal Enfield has also touched upon the areas the 411 fell short and has updated the Scram 440 with a lighter clutch and revised front brake setup.
Royal Enfield is set to officially launch the new Scram 440 in other markets by March 2025 and we can expect it to land on our shores around the same time.
