New Triumph Tiger Sport 800 breaks cover

The motorcycle looks similar to the Triumph Tiger Sport 660 but comes with a bigger engine that is interestingly more powerful than the Tiger 900s.

As we mentioned, the styling is familiar, with a few distinguishing factors like the ‘800’ graphics on the fuel tank, the stubby side exhaust, and the trident-shaped LED at the front. Three colours are on offer: Caspian Blue, Cosmic Yellow, and Graphite. The sport-touring motorcycle rides on Showa-sourced adjustable suspension and braking duties are done by 310mm discs at the front gripped on twin radial calipers. You also get 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Road 5 tyres.

As for features Triumph has plonked in an LCD/TFT combination display, three riding modes- Sport, Road and Rain as well as ABS, traction control and cruise control. Now, the Tiger Sport 800 uses a 798cc, inline-three engine that churns out 113bhp at 10,750rpm and 94Nm at 8,250rpm. Meanwhile, the Tiger 900 range with the 888cc, inline-three puts out 106bhp at 9,500rpm and 90Nm at 6,850rpm.

The Tiger Sport 800 is also nearly 6kg lighter than the 900s. With that said, the Tiger range is also equipped and built for different purposes that should suit the relatively lesser power it offers.

Triumph is looking to start shipping the motorcycle globally by March 2025 and we expect it to hit NZ and Australian shores around the same time.  Would you pick this over the full-blown Tiger 900? Let us know on our social channels, we’d love to chat!
