- 2025 Yamaha XSR 125 unveiled
- Gets new colour schemes, 125cc engine
- No word about Australia or NZ launch yet
Yamaha has updated one of their most popular offerings across the globe- the XSR 125 for 2025. While there is no word if the smallest model in the brand’s neo-retro range will make it to Australia or New Zealand, it would be interesting to see if Yamaha takes that path in the future.
Now, the 2025 XSR 125 has been revamped for the new model year with new colour schemes. First up is what Yamaha calls the Light Bluish Grey colour that is reminiscent of the first-gen XSR 900. While being subtle, it lends the bike a muscular look with the tank looking larger than it is. The black bits all around highlight the mix of its modern and old-school character. Then there is the slightly more retro Berry Dark Orange Metallic colourway. This offers a deep brown glossy paint scheme with gold decals that throws light on the retro element of the XSR. Other than this, the 2025 XSR 125 will also be offered in an all-black colour scheme.

The rest of the motorcycle remains the same and unaltered from the previous versions. It continues to be powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder engine that churns out a good 14.5bhp and 11.5Nm of torque. The motor comes with Yamaha’s famed Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) tech and is paired with a six-speed gearbox. It is fitted inside a Deltabox frame with an aluminium swingarm. Suspension duties are taken care of by USD forks up front and a monoshock at the rear while it rides on 17-inchers at either ends.
As for features, the motorcycle gets a dual-channel ABS and an LCD instrument cluster that offers vital information like speed, odo, rpm and a clock. In most other countries, the XSR 125 goe head on with the Honda CB125 and KTM 125 Duke- which is set to get an update in the form of a bigger, 160cc engine soon.
