  • NZ launch by early 2025

While the design and styling remains the same majorly, the motorcycle now comes with new tech. There is a new five-inch TFT screen with smartphone connectivity. This unit replaces the 3.5-inch screen on the previous model. Yamaha has also added two custom, user-adjustable modes alongside the existing Sport, Street and Rain modes. Adding to these, the 2025 XSR900 also features a Back Slip Regulator that reduces rear-wheel lockups and works in tandem with the slipper clutch.

That’s not all, the motorcycle also gets a new KYB monoshock that is fully adjustable and comes with revision to its linkages. Other than these updates, the XSR900 is familiar. It sports an 890cc, inline-three cylinder motor that churns out 117bhp and 93Nm. However, the unit is now Euro 5+ compliant. The kerb weight section on the spec sheet reads 193kg while the seat height is an accessible 810mm. Braking duties are performed by a radially-mounted Brembo caliper at the front and a floating unit at the rear.

We expect Yamaha to launch the motorcycle in New Zealand by early 2025 along with the new R1.
